Anyone who suffers from acne finds it a distressing and embarrassing problem. It is a medical condition, which causes suffering to any person irrespective of the age. Whether the sufferer is a baby, teenager or adult, the condition is equally painful and distressing. A number of myths are associated with the problem of acne. One of the popular myths is that babies do not have the problem of acne. The fact of the matter remains that as many as thirty percent of babies have a problem of acne. Another popular myth has gained a lot of ground is the myth that a zit should be popped or picked. . A sufferer of acne is tempted to remove a zit as soon as it appears. Since the zit is ugly and repulsive, this is a natural impulse. It is not an advisable practice to pop or pick the zit. This causes the infection to spread and can lead to the formation of scars. Popping or picking a zit will cause further aggravation of the problem and is not a solution. There are a number of other myths related to acne. Some of the myths are related to diet. In fact, some people think that changes in diet patterns cause acne. Although diet does have a relationship with acne, it is not a direct cause of acne.
