Teenagers are the worst affected by acne and pimples. About 85 % of teenagers in America are suffering from this disease in one way or the other. They suffer from pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and zits. The point to be noted is that why are teenagers targeted by this skin disease. Answer to this is hormonal problems. Hormones and acne are closely knit. At the start of puberty, many hormonal changes take place in human body, that is why children in teen years suffer from acne.

There are two main hormones called androgens and progesterone that cause acne in teen years. Imbalance of these hormones can lead to severe skin diseases. Androgens, progesterone and acne can be linked together.

Androgens is a hormone that maintains the growth of masculine features. If there is imbalance in this hormone then it leads to excessive outburst of sebum. This leads to many skin diseases that include acne. At the time of puberty, these glands come in action and make excessive sebum.

Progesterone is a hormone that is found in the body of women. It helps to control hormonal imbalance in the body and pre-menstrual syndrome that causes many skin problems. This hormone gives oxygen to skin cells which helps them to avoid acne. So, this hormone is used to cure acne. Even many products like, creams including progesterone are available which make the acne disappear. This is proving to be an effective treatment in the list of acne treatments because there are no side effects countered till now.

Androgens, progesterone and acne are related in one way or the other as hormones are the main cause of acne.
