Causes of Acne Skin Welts

If acne persists over a period, it can cause a number of other skin disorders. These skin disorders may exhibit symptoms similar to acne in many cases. However, they may have some other symptoms of their own. Acne skin welt is one such  skin ailment.

Welts can surface on your skin in different colors. In most cases, they have been observed to be red. Sometimes they may not be easily visible as they may match the color of your skin. A welt is essentially  a swollen portion on the surface of the skin. One of the basic symptoms of welts is that they are very itchy.

The elevation of the skin is the consequence of collection of fluid underneath the exterior layer of the skin. Welts can appear due to many reasons. If a person’s skin is severely flogged, it may cause welts. An allergic reaction may also cause welts. Welts may appear on your skin following hypodermic injections. If the injected  fluid does not find a proper channel, it collects underneath the skin and cause welts.

Acne skin welts are of  various sizes. They can be both small as well as large. A cause of concern is that there is no prescribed medication available for the complete healing of welts.

The main cause for welts is the scar tissue produced in the human body. Scar tissue is commonly found in the body of   people suffering from acne. When the scar tissue is produced in the human body in  abundance, it causes welts. The excess scar tissue causes swelling of skin.

Welts are actually not a very common phenomenon among people suffering from acne. It is more common in the case of external wounds and abrasions. Teenagers are more prone to  welts than adults are because in  teenagers more scar tissue is produced.

Remember that there are a number of medications available to treat welts. Sometimes welts simply refuse to heal despite prolonged medication. In this case, the best advice is to  consult a dermatologist.
