There are two main hormones called androgens and progesterone that cause acne in teen years. Imbalance of these hormones can lead to severe skin diseases. Androgens, progesterone and acne can be linked together.

Androgens is a hormone that maintains the growth of masculine features. If there is imbalance in this hormone then it leads to excessive outburst of sebum which then requires an acne treatment to get cured. This leads to many skin diseases that includes acne. At the time of puberty these glands come in action and make excessive sebum.

Progesterone is a hormone that is found in the body of women. It helps to control hormonal imbalance in the body and pre menstrual syndrome that causes many skin problems. This hormone gives oxygen to skin cells which helps them to avoid acne. So, this hormone is used to cure acne. Even many products like creams containing progesterone are being made which help the acne get disappeared. This is proving as an effective treatment in list of acne treatments because there are no side effects countered till now.
