Worst Acne Cures You Should Not Follow |
|
Acne can be an ugly development on one’s most visible portion of the body- face and neck. As a result, people want to quell the outbreak as soon as it becomes visible. People go to any length in order to remove these pimple formations. However, not all the methods employed can be considered as safe. Some of them can do more harm than thought otherwise.
Amongst the worst acne cures that people can resort to are home-cures. These are the ones that are most easily available and are inexpensive. Hence, people often end up adopting them without the realization as to whether the method would be safe and effective or not.
Following is a list of acne cures that are considered harmful to the skin.
Bursting Acne pores with hands- This is one of the worst methods to get rid of the problem of acne. It can increase the risk of scarring on face and is also not a guarantee that further occurrence of acne won’t take place. Further, the pores that get opened up due to picking can also pose a risk of infection of these pores; this can further complicate the problem.
Toothpaste- It is claimed that because of its drying capabilities, toothpaste can be used for treatment of acne. However, chemical tests prove otherwise. Instead of removing oil from the skin, toothpaste contains chemicals that help in the propagation of acne causing bacteria. Further, these chemicals can induce irritation in the skin, thereby reddening an already reddened spot. In extreme cases, it can result in the occurrence of peri-oral dermatitis; this can lead to formation of itchy red patches around the nose and mouth.
Neosporin- It is a commonly available cream for treating cuts. Thinking that it heals cuts, some people apply it to acne pores as well, hoping that the antibiotic would cure the bacteria inside the pores. However, they are hoping against hope as the cream clogs the acne pores. Due to this, it can’t even reach the follicle of the skin (where acne usually germinates). If at all there is some improvement, it is mainly cosmetic in nature. Neosporin only softens and moisturizes the area around the inflammation, making it look less ugly.
Avoiding accumulation of oil- Another common remedy suggested is removal of oil and grease from the skin as frequently as possible. Almost everybody knows that excess oil is the root cause of germination of acne-causing bacteria. Hence, if excess oil is removed then acne would go away as well. With this assumption in mind, cleansing the skin of all excess oil and grease begins. However, excessive cleansing may rid the skin of even essential oils, making it look drier than usual.
Staying away from fat- A stop on intake of fat through fried foods is also recommended in order to lessen acne. However, this has not been medically proved. Similarly, it has not been proved whether end of consumption of spicy food and chocolate would result in less acne or not.
Hence, if you have been trying any of the above mentioned methods to reduce or treat your acne, it is recommended that you stop immediately. These would not do you any good but might harm you.
