Guidelines For Appropriate Clothing To Prevent Acne |
|
Acne is an inflammatory skin disease that can occur at several places on the body, including neck, shoulders, back, chest. Although there are numerous factors that could cause acne, improper clothing could also cause or even aggravate the pre-existing acne condition.
Acne is believed to be caused by hormonal imbalances or environmental toxins. In this disease, the glands under the skin produce large amounts of oil. This oil mixes with dead skin cells and provides the germinating ground for bacteria that give rise to inflammations. Tightly fitted clothes do not let the oil and the dead skin cells leave the body and thus provide ideal conditions for the bacteria to multiply.
Therefore, clothes definitely play an important role in the prevention of body acne. Here are a few tips on suitable clothing approaches to prevent body acne.
Tip 1: Wear lose clothes
Perspiration is one of the main causes of acne. You should wear soft and lose clothes to prevent sweating. Cotton clothes are a good choice as they facilitate superior airflow. Oxygen is a necessary ingredient for the good health of your skin. It is also required to clear the clogged pores and heal the existing acne.
Tip 2: Avoid Tight Clothing
You should avoid wearing tight clothes as they do not allow the air to pass through them and rub against your neck, chest, shoulders and back. They can also aggravate the acne lesions by trapping the sweat that mixes with skin oils.
Tip 3: Synthetic is Tragic
You should also avoid synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, as they do not allow the air to reach your skin. This can make you sweat a lot. More sweat results in the production of more oil from the skin which mixes with dead cells thereby causing serious bacterial infestation of acne. However, some sports apparel manufacturers have designed fabrics that pull the sweat from your skin and rapidly evaporate it.
Tip 4: If it Itches Stop Wearing it
Some clothes such as wool sweaters are too rough on the skin. You might frequently scratch your body while wearing them. This can aggravate a pre-existing acne condition, which will take longer to treat and in all likelihood leave a scar.
Tip 5: Immediately change the sweaty clothing
You should not sit around in the same clothes after hectic physical activities, such as jogging or exercising. The bacteria in your sweat can block your skin pores and cause acne inflammations. Remove sweaty clothing as early as possible and take a shower.
Tip 6: Be Cautious About the Workout Wear
You should wear lose and comfortable clothes while exercising. Working out makes you hot and causes a lot of perspiration. If you wear tight clothes they do not allow the air to pass through them. They also rub against your body and spread the acne causing bacteria throughout the body.
