If you are suffering from acne, you are probably in a dilemma about whom to approach for advice. If you are, totally in the dark and have not a clue about what to do, do not worry and take my advice. Be careful while washing your face. You will do well to use as little tap water as possible. Plain tap water has a lot of chlorine. Frequent exposure to chlorine can cause permanent damage to facial skin. If you have to use tap water, try washing your face not more than twice a day.

Lack of sleep and irregular sleeping habits can also cause acne. If you keep irregular sleeping hours or are not able to have sufficient sleep then you may suffer from acne or aggravate existing acne.  Try to readjust your sleeping habits by sleeping and waking up at the same time, everyday.

If you smoke, try your best to quit. If you cannot quit, then cut down on your cigarettes. Smoking, along with excessive intake of tea and coffee, increases the amount of stress hormones and free radicals in the body. Excessive levels of stress hormone can be a major reason of acne.

Say no to foodstuff to which you are allergic. Try to find our which food items do not suit you. Avoid heavy, fried or high calorie foods altogether. These types of foods overload your system and increase the level of toxins in your body. As a result, the skin has to shoulder the extra burden. The skin is stressed, leading to the formation of acne.

Regular cleansing of the bowels is very important to prevent acne. If your body has problems in getting rid of waste, you should opt for a warm water enema. If done on a regular basis, it can help to keep the bowels sufficiently clean.
