* Erythromycin is also one of the most prescribed acne medicines. Representing a quite effective acne medication particularly to young patients, erythromycin is known for inhibiting enzyme activities. Like in other acne medicines, one must be very careful in using this medicine.

* Zithromax on the other hand is the product name for azithromycin. This particular acne medicine is derived from erythromycin. Zithromax can also be bought under the name “sumamed,” a popular and effective treatment of acne. Compared to other acne medicines, this medicine is more expensive.

* Doxycycline is a pill that is often used for acne treatment. Having strong antibiotic components, doxycycline has been used by many acne patients for presenting good tolerance and lesser side effects. Patients should be careful in doxycycline capsules because these often irritate the stomach compared to the tablet. Other effective acne medicines include prednisone, a steroid based acne medication used to block inflammation of an allergic reaction, and topical acne products like salicylic acid which is a soft acne medicine used for mild acne and benzoyl peroxide which is used in treating moderate and mild cases of acne.
