Analyzing Different Types Of Acne Medicines |
|
According to dermatologists, acne is an illness that
involves the development of existence blackheads due to hair follicles.
It is produced by an increased flow from oil glands in skin with
intensified peeling of dead cells. This occurrence leads to an oil-cell
combination that blocks follicle openings that result to blackheads. If
the follicle openings are heavily clogged, they may become infected with
bacteria, which eventually lead to the existence of inflamed, closed,
pus-filled blackheads.
Common acne medicines
Dermatologists recommend oral medicines for curing acne. This skin
disorder is caused by bacterial infection, hence most physicians trust
antibiotics as acne medicines to cut off the main source. Antibiotics
are meant for developing antibodies for bacteria. There are many acne
medicines available in the market but, among them, the following are the
most known and effective acne medicines that are being administered in
any acne treatment.
* One of the most popular acne medicines is
the tetracycline. Usually, tetracycline treatments are given for a long
period of time, usually one to six months. Eventually, the dose of the
medicine is then reduced depending on the developments.
*
Erythromycin is also one of the most prescribed acne medicines.
Representing a quite effective acne medication particularly to young
patients, erythromycin is known for inhibiting enzyme activities. Like
in other acne medicines, one must be very careful in using this medicine.
*
Zithromax on the other hand is the product name for azithromycin. This
particular acne medicine is derived from erythromycin. Zithromax can
also be bought under the name “sumamed,” a popular and effective
treatment of acne. Compared to other acne medicines, this medicine is
more expensive.
* Doxycycline is a pill that is often used for
acne treatment. Having strong antibiotic components, doxycycline has
been used by many acne patients for presenting good tolerance and lesser
side effects. Patients should be careful in doxycycline capsules because
these often irritate the stomach compared to the tablet.
Other
effective acne medicines include prednisone, a steroid based acne
medication used to block inflammation of an allergic reaction, and
topical acne products like salicylic acid which is a soft acne medicine
used for mild acne and benzoyl peroxide which is used in treating
moderate and mild cases of acne.
