How To Differentiate Between Acne And Rosacea? |
|
But you are not the only one. Most of the
people are unaware of the difference between the two. Rosacea is an
adverse form of acne. It can be characterized by:
1) A persistent
red face
2) Extra blushing or flushing
3) Red papules or
pustules on nose, face, cheek etc.
4) Dry facial skin
5) Red,
sore eyelids consisting of papules.
6) Significant swelling of facial
areas
7) Stinging skin after use of make-up
8) Aggravation when
exposed to sun or due to intake of spicy food
9) Large bulky nose with
large pores.
Although the symptoms of acne appear
quite similar to rosacea, it is a very different skin disorder on the
whole. Acne consists of various components like papules, pustules,
cysts, nodules, whiteheads and blackheads. It is actually a breakout on
the skin.
Rosacea and acne can be distinguished if the sufferer
is observed carefully. Adherence to the characteristics of any of them
would provide a clear distinction. In case of rosacea, the pimples are
not very prominent as in acne. In fact there exists a red and rough
patch of skin that might not be clearly defined by any kind of pimples.
Other than that rosacea is aggravated when exposed to sun or heat. The
person's face becomes red easily and quickly. Unlike acne, rosacea is
just found on face.
Although the difference is not that much when
the two are compared but is noticeable when looked at carefully. Also,
the treatment for both has common threads. Just like in the case of
acne, Isotretinoin and Azelaic Acid are used to treat rosacea
effectively.
