Can Acne Scars Be Removed |
|
Any person suffering from acne scars has a
question in mind ''can acne scars be removed''. Well, acne is a common
condition affecting many people at some point in their life. Sometimes,
severe acne occurs to many people leading to permanent and disfigured
scaring. Pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and zits are very prone to
leaving permanent scars. Acne scaring is due to the damage caused to
collagen within the skin in the form of inflammation thus leading to
permanent texture changes in the skin.
Although acne scarring is
permanent, it can be treated. One thing should be kept in mind that its
essential to clear all acne before treating scaring. Some of the scar
treatments that are helpful in scar removal are as follows:
1) Dermabrasion: There are mainly two layers of skin, the
outer layer is epidermis while the inner layer is dermis. Superficial
dermabrasion helps in removing the portions of the epidermis and deep
dermabrasion in removing all of the epidermis and portions of the
dermis. However, deep methods are mostly preferred for treating acne
scars. The other two types of dermabrasion are motorized dermabrasion
and manual dermasanding.
2) Laser resurfacing: Lasers use a high
energy beam of light that targets specific structures in the skin thus
destroying the outer layers of the skin as it is also ablative in nature.
3) Subsicion: Subsicion is mainly used for atrophic scarring. In this,
local anaesthesia is used and a needle is inserted under the scar and
moved underneath the skin to release the scar tissue.
4) Punch excision and grafting: In this, a small cookie cutter like device is
used to cut out the scar and the edges of the wound are then sewn
together with a suture.
5) Fillers: Fillers can improve your acne
scars by flattening the scars but for maintaining the result, lesions
should be re-injected at regular intervals.
6) Chemical peels:
Chemical peels help in promoting the growth of a new skin with an
improved appearance. Chemicals used can be glycolic acid, salicyclic
acid, trihloroacetic acid, phenol, and many more.
So, these are
some of the treatments which help in improving your acne scars and give
you an acne free skin.
