Acne is as such a bitter phase of life and can turn
really sour if it leaves behind the scars that may not be ready to leave
your face, all through your life. However, there are numerous procedures
that can help you get rid of them. They have their own benefits and
side-effects, and are often combined to give you the smoothest of skins.
These are:
Punch Excision:
Punch Excision is a surgical
method used to treat acne scars. It is used for ice-pick and deep boxcar
scars. A punch biopsy tool is used in this procedure. It comes in
diameters ranging from 1.5 mm to 3.5 mm. It has to be of the size of the
scar, including the walls of the scar. Local anesthesia is given and the
scar is excised with the punch tool. The skin edges are then sutured
together. The new scar that takes shape, fades away with time. Further,
resurfacing techniques can be used to make it disappear completely.
Punch Excision with Skin Graft Replacement:
In Punch
Excision with Skin Graft Replacement, the scar is excised as above. The
difference is that instead of suturing the skin edges together, the dent
is filled with the help of a punch skin graft, usually taken from behind
the ear. After the procedure, a color and texture difference may be
visible. But a skin resurfacing therapy can be used after 4-6 weeks, to
fix this problem.
A whole array of treatments is available to
treat acne as well as acne scars but still it is always advisable to
consult your dermatologist in the initial stages of acne itself, so that
the situation of scars may not occur.
