Acne Scars - The Reminder Of Hard Times |
|
Acne affects almost 85% of people at some
point in their life. It may last for a few months or a few years and go
off by itself. But an early and appropriate treatment is all you need to
prevent it from leaving scarring and dis-pigmentation behind, which
could persist for life. Once an acne lesion heals, it leaves behind a
red or hyper-pigmented mark on the skin. This mark is not a scar but
only a post-inflammatory change.
It is very
likely to be there for a period of 6-12 months which is the time
required by the skin to heal and remodel itself. But if the mark does
not go away for more than a year, it is taken to be a permanent scar.
Mild scarring can be treated with some topical skin care products and
medications,
but most acne scars are treated with a combination of
surgical procedures and skin resurfacing.
