Some Medication To Treat Your Pimples |
|
There are a lot of medications available to
treat pimples. But a combination of different products often proves to
be more fruitful in reducing the effects and severity of the pimples.
But, before taking any of them, it is better to consult with your
physician. The following medications have been found to be effective in
treating pimples:
Salicyclic acid and
glycolic acid
You can exfoliate your skin both, mechanically as
well as chemically. You can prevent the build up of dead skin by using
salicyclic acid and glycolic acid. It also helps in opening already dead
skin pores. They are available in the form of moisturizers and
anti-clogging chemical agents as over-the-counter drugs.
Topical
bactericidals
You can have agents containing Benzoyl peroxide to
treat mild to severe acne without having a prescription. Benzoyl
peroxide is a strong oxidiser which prevents new lesions from taking
shape. It also has some side effects such as dryness, local irritation,
redness and alike. It is in fact a mild bleach. So, care must be taken
before using it.
antibiotics
There are some strong
antibiotics such as clindamycin, tetracycline or erythromycin that are
applied externally. These antibiotics kill the bacteria found in the
blocked follicles. This method is preferable than the topical
antibiotics as it has less side effects. However, this has proven to be
awkward to apply over larger areas than just the face.
Hormonal treatments
Hormonal treatments are generally
applied to females to treat pimples. The new anti-testosterone
Cyproterone, in combination with an oestrogen is a very potent tool in
reducing and curing pimples.
External and
oral retinoids
External topical retinoids such as tretinoin,
adapalene and tazarotene are very useful in the treatments of acne. Oral
retinoids such as isotretinoin are able to reduce the effects of
pimples. They can also reduce the inflammation to a great extent.
Apart
from the above medications, there are also some other medications which
are used in the treatment of pimples, depending on the condition of the
sufferer. Strict diet and home remedies are also useful in curing
pimples and in reducing the inflammation of the skin to a considerable
extent.
