Acne and Herbal Green Tea |
|
Most of us begin our morning with a steaming cup of tea or coffee. And all the tea lovers across the world have tasted green tea. As we enjoy the magically delicious cup of tea, little do we realize that it is truly magical in many respects. It refreshes us and makes us more alive but that is not the only thing it does. It works much deeper than we realize.
It is a well-known and well-documented fact that consumption of green tea helps digestion and reduces cholesterol. What is not as widely known is that it can do wonders in curing acne problem, too. However, the studies in this regard are largely inconclusive. It has been found that green tea is high on antioxidants, such as flavonols and polyphenols.
Green tea is helpful because the oxidants present in it prevent the skin damage cause by oxidation. Oxidation is process wherein free radicals pull free electrons from the cells in vicinity. This, being a chain reaction, weakens the tissues. Green tea prevents oxidation and, therefore, helps the tissues maintain their health.
Green tea has also been found to prevent bacterial colonization, which is the primary cause of acne infection. Not just that, it also alleviates inflammation and arrests hormonal activities to a large extent. Since infection and hormonal imbalance is the primary cause of acne, green tea helps cure the problem.
These days products that use green tea extracts are very popular in the market because they are considered to be natural and, therefore, safe and are very effective in reducing and preventing acne.
However, when you go shopping for green tea, do not compromise on the kind of green tea you take. Make sure that the green tea you select is of very good quality because a substandard product may not bring the desired results.
A natural cure like green tea is certainly preferable over medicinal cures, which might come with serious side effects. But if your acne problem does not show signs of significant improvement, it is better that you consult a dermatologist or use proven OTC acne treatments Do not resort to experimentation because it can only worsen the condition.
