Almost everyone at some point of their life has been disturbed by problems related to acne. Blackheads is a type of acne which often becomes difficult and tedious to get rid of. Blackheads are formed because of clogging of pores due to over activity of the sebaceous glands. It attacks on any part of the face ranging from the cheek, tip of the nose to chest and back. Often people have the impression that blackheads occur  only during puberty, but this is wrong as blackheads often continue up to adulthood.

A variety of drugs and treatments are available nowadays in the market, but we should be careful in choosing them as every person has varied type of skin as well as skin problems.

The first blackhead treatment to mention is self-treatment. In this type, people themselves try to pierce or prick the blackheads. This is an extremely dangerous thing to do as severe cases of blackheads results because of carelessness in squeezing. Here we have to keep certain things in mind, first of all always wash your face and hands with warm water and after your face is dry try to squeeze out the materials with the help of a tissue. Always apply creams and lotions that are mild in nature and are non sticky or non greasy.

Use of drugs like benozyl peroxide, accutane, are also helpful  in blackhead treatments, but always consult a doctor  before using any of the above mentioned drugs. You can also try some improved methods like phototherapy.

Use of pore strips is probably the most popular one, but this  method  is also the most harmful one. Pore strips do remove the blackheads but only temporarily, also it can cause severe damage to the skin in and around the blackheads.

For blackhead treatments metallic extractors as well as chemical peels with glycolic acid .

We can also try some basic things like good hygiene and cleanliness, intake of lots of fruits, vegetables and water.
