Acne can occur in any region of your body. Whenever we hear the term acne, we associate it with facial acne and forget that it may affect other parts of the body. Acne usually occurs in the face, chest and back although it may occur also occur in any other area of the body’s surface where sebum secretion glands are found or where excessive sebum secretion takes place.

In a sense, body acne is more embarrassing than facial acne. Facial acne is usually taken for granted by people. If you are suffering from body acne, it is very embarrassing and you no longer can wear any revealing outfits. There are times when you may want to take a dip in the pool but cannot do so because of acne on your back or shoulders.

Treating body acne can be a distressing experience because the skin of other regions of the body may be tougher than facial skin. Antibacterial soaps are very effective in treating body acne. These soaps should be used on a daily basis. Use any one of the many brands of salicylic acid based body cleansers. These cleansers are very helpful in curing body acne.

Benzoyl peroxide is another useful medication meant for topical use. It can dry out pimples and acne. It will also dry out your skin. After using this medicine, apply a good moisturizer to nourish and soften your skin. Do not apply benzoyl peroxide on the face. You can apply it on body skin, as it is less sensitive than facial skin.

If acne occurs in the smooth and sensitive areas of your body, you can use a soft swab to rub off the dead skin cells. You should rub these areas in a very gentle manner. You should not be rough with those areas, as it may affect your skin adversely.

Wear loose fitting cotton clothing, which allows your skin to breathe. Such clothes facilitate ventilation, thereby preventing acne. Wash the affected areas regularly especially after you have worked out. If you follow these simple rules, you will be able to prevent body acne.
