When Going Out To Buy Over The Counter Acne Products? |
|
Think of an action plan wherein, you wish to
open a departmental store. And you will keep only two products in it-
tooth paste and bath soap. But you have decided to keep all the
varieties.
This will certainly call for million dollars investment. Over
the counter medications are moving in the same line.
For a common cold, you have hundreds of medicines. For headache,
another equal number! Millions suffer from acne all over the world, at a
given time. Manufacturers are having a harried time to develop new and
imaginative products, in this competitive field, for treatment of acne.
Once the market and the people accept it as one of the standard over the
counter treatment product, the remaining job of the manufacturer is to
maintain the quality and keep up the advertisement campaign on.
The arrival of acne on any face is greeted with disgust. The impact of acne
over the counter products is so great, that you sometimes, think that it
is not necessary to consult your doctor. You trust your past experience,
and the expert drug store salesman's knowledge about acne products. But
here, you encounter one genuine problem. Whether to buy the good old,
traditional product, which is holding sway over the market for decades
or to go for any one of the natural products that have created deep
impact on the general public?
The trusted traditional medical treatments are the products that contain the good
old trusted salycic acid or benzoyl peroxide. The reputation of the natural products
is also very high, like aloe vera, vitamin E and tea tree oil. The problem with
making the choice of acne medication straightaway is that the same
medicine will not suit all on an even keel.
Each human being is different; each acne attack is special by
itself. Whatever be the product; it must perform the basic function of
drying the skin and prevent excess oil build up which is the main cause
of acne.
But always remember. You are a layman.
The salesman in the drug store is an experienced layman. He is not a
qualified man or an expert. If the product selected by you, does not
give the positive result, after a few days, do not delay to contact your
doctor.
Before you buy an over the counter product, for acne
treatment, and if you are buying a newly advertised product, please go
carefully through the type of ingredients used in the product. The basic
function of the product is to fight bacteria and arrest its spread.
As
already indicated, the most widely used ingredient in acne medication is
benzoyl peroxide. But, even while using this you need to take certain
precautions. It too has certain side effects, like it can bleach your
hair. The other nuisance it crates is it stains clothing.
Other
common ingredients used in acne products are resorcinol and sulfur.
Also remember one fundamental truth. Some acne attacks are just to
create the scare in you. They come and go and do not require any
medication at all!
