One wonders that even after using so many precautionary measures like cleansers, facial toners, ex-foliants, one still gets that problem. Many believe that adult acne is caused by either genetic and hormonal disorders or by blockages of bacteria and oil. Adult acne mostly includes pimples, inflammation, cysts and sometimes even scarring. Adult acne is not only limited to the face, it can also occur in and around the arms, legs, buttocks, torso.

Adult acne can be painful both mentally and physically. It requires immediate and proper medical treatment. Although acne treatment varies from individual to individual, most of times doctor prescribe the following drugs- benozyl peroxide, sallicylic acid, retin-a, cleocin-t, accutane, sulfur, erthythromyicin, doxycyline and tetracycline. Apart from a few advanced treatments are also available  like microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, laser scar removal.

Apart from the drugs mentioned above, we also have to personally take care of some things to stay free from acne. First of all we should inform our doctor about the changes taking place in us, we should stay away from pollution, excessive humidity, when blemishes are there you should not touch or pierce them, also avoid exposure to excessive heat or cold, avoid non-oily cosmetic products.

A few things should also be kept in mind before we go for an acne treatment. We should have fairly good idea about the credentials of the doctor, also ask the doctor about the possible side-effects of the drugs he had prescribed. Also, we have to be very careful about or hygiene, and we should also maintain a diet which is healthy and beneficial to us.
