Acne has more than usual impact on the life of a person. Many a times, it ruins the mental balance of the acne sufferer, thereby causing fatal consequences such as social withdrawal, reduced self confidence and self esteem, accumulation of negative energies in the affected person. Take a deep look at these consequences below.
* Social withdrawal- Physical appearances play a more than subservient role when it comes to socializing. More often than not, it is the physical appearance of a person that determines his/her popularity within the group. Acne ruins one’s appearances. The countless red spots blemish the very first thing that people notice about you– your face. As a result, those suffering from acne tend to withdraw socially.
* Reduced self-confidence and decreased self-esteem- The withdrawal is also a result of reduction in self-confidence. Our confidence usually takes a hit when chances of us getting repeatedly attacked becomes more than often. Something similar happens in today’s social circle, where physical distortion (in reality as well as in our perception) evokes jokes from those around us.
* Embarrassment and feelings of depression- Embarrassment is also faced by those who suffered from acne. Usually, the embarrassment is imposed upon them rather than being felt by them at a personal level. A constant state of embarrassment lowers are self-esteem and pushes us into a state of depression.

* Higher rate of unemployment- In adults, this type of preoccupation may take their minds away from their job, resulting in the loss of job as well. Further, in those avenues where one’s physical appearances are the prime requirement, acne can ruin their professional life.
Because of the negative connotations attached with ugliness in our society, acne becomes a kind of punishment for suffers. It has lasting psychological impact upon the mind of these individuals which take a lot of time to heal. Perhaps the rest of the members in the society can help them get out of it.
