Your Child Might Be At Risk With Infantile Acne |
|
Infantile acne effects children below six
years of age and generally occurs on cheeks, forehead and chin. It is
more common in boys, but settles down within a few months. It consists
of whiteheads, blackheads, pustules and papules. It may leave permanent
scars and often result in acne vulgaris during puberty.
Management
1. Wash the face of the child twice a
day with a mild soap and water.
2. Acne products should be applied
twice a day to get considerable results.
3. Most of all it needs to
be understood that it takes time for acne to go away, therefore you need
to keep patience.
Medication
Infantile acne can be
treated with topical agents such as benzoyl peroxide or erythromycin
gel. In severe cases, oral antibiotics such as erythromycin and
trimethoprim, or Isotretinoin may be required. But, tetracycline
antibiotics should not be used for children as it may lead to yellowing
of developing teeth. Immediate medical guidance can save your child from
any further hazards.
